Extractions: In cases where there are large fractures, present periodontal diseases, large instances of decay, or when the third molar becomes symptomatic, extractions are necessary to treat the afflicted tooth. After an extraction, bone grafting is recommended to prepare the area for future treatments like bridges, implants, or dentures, which require proper bone support.

Surgical placement of implants:  To replace a missing tooth, an implant is the treatment of choice. While bridges and dentures can also restore the tooth without surgery, implants are not removable, unlike dentures, and do not involve the alteration of any adjacent teeth, unlike bridges. Implants can be used to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or entire lower and upper arches.
