Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease is the primary cause of tooth loss. It can also contribute to other ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart complications, and immunodeficiency due to bacterial infection of the gums. Gum disease can be caused by several contributing factors, including genetic issues, systemic issues, side effects of medication, lack of oral hygiene, and trauma. While the best way to deal with gum disease is through preventative measures, there are methods that can treat it to prevent further damage. After treating the patient with cleaning and monitoring the progression of the gum disease, a referral to a specialist is given to patients who require additional treatment.
